While we had her in the house, we put a diaper on her to avoid any messes. She didn't like it very much and kept hopping around trying to get it off! Finally I took it off and just watched her carefully. She is napping again now, but I expect her to be up soon wanting another bottle!
When we got home I put Sabriyah in a box to take a nap. When she got up an hour or two later I took her out to the barn with me to get straw for the playpen we put in the garage. She followed me down there and back up. When we got back in, she was hungry!! Having nursed on mom, she wasn't used to the bottle but the first feeding session went well. She figured it out pretty fast. While we had her in the house, we put a diaper on her to avoid any messes. She didn't like it very much and kept hopping around trying to get it off! Finally I took it off and just watched her carefully. She is napping again now, but I expect her to be up soon wanting another bottle! My photo gallery option is FINALLY working! Just as I was about to publish this post, someone started yelling that the horses were out!! Oh brother! I grabbed a shawl and my boots and ran out the door. By the time we got out there, they were about a 1/4 mile back the farm lane. I started calling for them and there they came...to us...and past us! They ran across the road to Grandpa's and thankfully, one of his pasture gates was open so they ran in there and we were able to catch them. Always an adventure!

Three days ago, Mrs. Fick's goat had triplets, two girls and a boy. (she's the one that makes the goat milk soap) It's been a year since I lost my two goats so I decided it was time to get another. We ran over to her house this afternoon so I could pick between the girls. I had originally thought I wanted the black one because she looked like Hadiyyah, one of the ones I lost last year, but in the end, I went with the lighter one because of her personality. Her name is Sabriyah, which means patient in Arabic. She looks like she has pants on! Thanks for letting me have Sabriyah Mrs. Fick!
Mrs. Fick is keeping Sabriyah's sister and is naming her Fancy Face for her muliti color face! She'll call her Fancy for short. Since we already had plans for Saturday, we had Mom's party on Friday. Here's a few pictures. (The photo gallery is still not working so I have to use the slideshow) Happy Birthday Mom! We won't say how many you've had! I'll post pictures and the details in a day or two.
GOD grant me the SERENITY to accept the things I cannot change, Glory be to God the Father, Glory be to God the Son, Glory be to God the Spirit, Great Jehovah, Three in One! Glory, glory, glory, glory, While eternal ages run! Glory be to Him who loved us, Washed us from each spot and stain! Glory be to Him who bought us, Made us kings with Him to reign! Glory, glory, glory, glory, To the Lamb that once was slain! Glory to the king of angels, Glory to the Church’s king, Glory to the king of nations! Heaven and earth, your praises bring; Glory, glory, glory, glory, To the King of glory bring! “Glory, blessing, praise eternal!” Thus the choir of angels sings; “Honor, riches, power, dominion!” Thus its praise creation brings; Glory, glory, glory, glory, Glory to the King of kings! Today I'm working on editing the second book. I always have a hard time making myself get started on editing...it isn't my favorite thing to do but it's necessary! It's easier to come up with fresh ideas than it is to try and make all the pieces fall into place! I'm on the second chapter...I'm going to try and get that and maybe the third done today.
The other night I typed up the first chapter of the third book. I usually don't start typing the books into the computer until the rough draft is finished but I felt the need to type that chapter for some reason! I'll probably type a little on that one off and on so look for some excerpts soon. I love posting those little teasing tidbits! The other day I was re-reading through the rough draft manuscript of my first book and comparing it to the manuscript I submitted to Xulon for editing...wow! What a difference! My writing style really changed in three years. I got better at using descriptions and making the scenes feel more real. It is really interesting to go back and see the progress. I enjoy reading through the rough drafts, if only to laugh at myself! I've had a few people ask why I hand write my books first, then type them up. Well, when I first started writing, I couldn't type, well, I could....with one finger but that isn't very fast! So I wrote them by hand. Then when it came to the point where I needed to have the first book on the computer, I had to learn to type. I took a typing class with my homeschooling but actually only did about a month of classes. I picked it up pretty fast and then typing the book was great practice! I've gotten pretty quick at typing...the first book is around 70,000 words and the second will be near that too when I'm finished so I got a lot of practice! So why do I continue to hand write my books? For one, its a great keepsake. I like having the actual physical manuscript in my hands. Also, its a lot handier to carry around with me. You can't take a computer everywhere, but you can take a notebook. I take it with me just about everywhere I go...you never know when a scene will come to you and if its the scene you've been stuck on for the last two weeks...you really want to be able to write it down quick!! Writers block can be really frustrating...I could write twenty pages yesterday and today I can't think of a thing to write!! But I love it when my writers block clears up...because you get flooded with ideas! My pen usually can't keep up with my head when that happens. I think the longest time I had writers block was about two months and that was this past summer. I couldn't think of a thing! And then, wow! It was a flood. I had a slow time about November through January but it's picking back up again. I'm not the kind of writer who can just pick a topic, do some research and write a book about it. My subject has to be something that I love, something I'm familiar with, something that means something to me. Its hard for me to write about something I have to research, its much easier to use facts that are already stored up, but that isn't always the best way! I love writing to music. Sounds crazy, I know, but it works. The words seem to flow better if I'm listening to music while I write. In fact, that's what I'm doing right now. I'm listening to Jeffrey Michaels album After the Storm. Its a great album to listen to while writing. So most of the time when I'm writing, you'll find me near my computer with headphones on! It also helps me drowned out background noise so I can concentrate. Take a look at the length of this post....do you think music helps?! So anyway, I just thought I'd share some things about writing today. It's been awhile since I did a post like this! Here is another little something from Iris's blog, The Blue Birdhouse. She is courting Patrick who lives in the United States. If I remember right, they were recording this song so it could be played at a missions conference in Florida. This interesting piece of writing was forwarded to me from my grandma. A friend had sent it to her and I thought you all would enjoy it as much as I did. Some interesting truths and concepts.... How Great is our God!!! Our Creator and Redeemer . . . and do we THINK about it ??? God's accuracy may be observed in the hatching of eggs.. . . . .For example: the eggs of the potato bug hatch in 7 days; those of the canary in 14 days; those of the barnyard hen in 21 days; The eggs of ducks and geese hatch in 28 days; those of the mallard in 35 days; the eggs of the parrot and the ostrich hatch in 42 days. (Notice, they are all divisible by seven, the number of days in a week!) God's wisdom is seen in the making of an elephant. The four legs of this great beast all bend forward in the same direction. No other quadruped is so made. God planned that this animal would have a huge body, too large to live on two legs. For this reason He gave it four fulcrums so that it can rise from the ground easily. The horse rises from the ground on its two front legs first. A cow rises from the ground with its two hind legs first. How wise the Lord is in all His works of creation! God's wisdom is revealed in His arrangement of sections and segments, as well as in the number of grains . - Each watermelon has an even number of stripes on the rind. -Each orange has an even number of segments. -Each ear of corn has an even number of rows. -Each stalk of wheat has an even number of grains. -Every bunch of bananas has on its lowest row an even number of bananas, and each row decreases by one, so that one row has an even number and the next row an odd number. -The waves of the sea roll in on shore twenty-six to the minute in all kinds of weather. -All grains are found in even numbers on the stalks, and the Lord specified thirty fold, sixty fold, and a hundred fold all even numbers. God has caused the flowers to blossom at certain specified times during the day. Linnaeus, the great botanist, once said that if he had a conservatory containing the right kind of soil, moisture and temperature, he could tell the time of day or night by the flowers that were open and those that were closed! The lives of each of you may be ordered by the Lord in a beautiful way for His glory, if you will only entrust Him with your life. If you try to regulate your own life, it will only be a mess and a failure. Only the One Who made the brain and the heart can successfully guide them to a profitable end. On Saturday, Levi and Lydia went to the state rabbit show in Lansing with Nancy. Since it was a pick up day at our auction, Mom couldn't take them so she met Nancy in Flint at six a.m. and the kids went the rest of the way with her. They took all eight of their rabbits and.....did really well! Lydia got a trophy for best of breed. Her rabbit Kenny was the best Dutch at the show that day and her rabbit Nancy got best of variety. Levi won best of variety, best of the torte color, with his rabbit Tonto. They were both really pleased, Levi has shown a couple times before and this was Lydia's first show. Nancy was a big help to them. Most of their rabbits came from her, the three that won all came from her. Mom and Dad drove down after pick up that night and got back around 10 p.m. I don't know the time for sure because I gave up and went to bed!! Below are some pictures. The kids didn't take a camera so the pictures are a little grainy because Levi took them with my phone. There is one picture of Nancy...the rabbit lady with someone doing rabbit ears behind her! The kids had a great time and are already planning for the next show!! My photo gallery option is acting up so until I can get the problem resolved, I will be uploading pictures in a photo slideshow. I've been following a blog by a girl named Iris who lives in Germany. She posted this free printable on her blog and I thought I would share it with you all. Her blog is The Blue Birdhouse if you want to check it out.
