Today, for the first time since my accident, nearly six months ago, I worked with a horse! I took Smoke out on the lunge line and we had fun. I thought about doing Bannie, but he tends to lean on the rope really hard and I wasn't sure I was up to holding on to him, so I chose Smoke, she always keep slack in the rope.
For not having been worked in so many months, she did great. I was able to snap a few pictures of her with my phone. I absolutely love the one at the top of this post! She seemed to enjoy having a job to do. When the horses got out the other day and she was tearing around like crazy I made the comment, "Boy, she's going to be fun to get back on!" Dad gave me "the look"! I thought she would be crazier than she was on the line, but she moved through the gaits smoothly and came down quickly when I asked her to. She turned in with my body language and stopped and faced me exactly as she was supposed to. It was a good feeling to work with a horse like that again.
