Motor Home

Yesterday we bought a motor home!
We had been looking around for awhile, called on lots, looked at a few and finally decided on this one.
Our Alaska trip is coming up quickly! Just a few months to go. We had toyed with the idea of going in the truck, pulling a camper, but the thought of six people packed in a cab for a month was not very appealing!
We are going to drive through Canada to Alaska and spend some time there seeing the sights. On our way home we will be driving through the United States, stopping at Yellowstone for a day or two along the way.
And for me, that will be the highlight of the trip...not because of Yellowstone, although I know I will enjoy it, but because it will be my first time out west and if at all possible, we are going to a real working ranch! I'm really excited because this will be the first and maybe only time I will be able to see the things I write about in action. I've read lots of books on ranches and how they work and I've seen some really short movies, but I have never experienced it for myself. I'm working on getting in shape so I'll be able to keep up with all the activity!
We are all looking forward to the trip for different reasons.
Anyway, here's some pictures of our second home.

Hope you all have a nice time! Sounds like one of those lifetime trips! My in-laws used to have one of them. I would recommend bringing along a Coleman stove to cook on outside. It gets too hot inside to cook in there. Also, it's not fair to the cook to have to stay inside when outside the sun is shinning and there are new things to see! It also gets very crowded inside there. Don't over pack as you quickly run out of room. You might even find something neat to bring home and you sure want to have room for it!

This certainly will be a once in a lifetime trip! It's my parents 25th wedding anniversary this year and my mom's dream trip has always been Alaska. So instead of just them going, we're all going!
Dad wanted us to take a special trip when the youngest, Lydia, will be able to remember it well and he was worried about where I might be in another year or two! That is a good idea about the camp stove. I'm the one that would probably be stuck inside cooking so I'll make sure we bring one along! We are very excited about this trip. It will be great to see new places.

Sounds very exciting - like you say a trip of a lifetime. Very nice that the whole family is going. Your animals will miss you - especially little Rio. Enjoy every aspect and each other.

That is one drawback...I'm not excited about being away from the animals, specially Rio, for that long....but it's just a month. We'll have time to catch up with them when we get back. I'm sure we'll enjoy the trip very much.

I'm sure you will get one! We are looking forward to the trip as well. It will be good practice figuring out what to pack and what to leave behind!!

I would pretend I was cooking a meal. You have to have someone hand you everything you need out of the inside of the camper from the fridge. You might want to have a box of spices, cooking utensils, etc. that you just pass out the door or store in the outside storage. Just an idea!
