Horse Babysitting

Oreo, Garth and Blue
Last Friday one of our neighbors called and asked if I could babysit their three horses this week while they go on a trip.
I had been observing these horses for several years from a distance as I rode past so I was excited for the opportunity to meet them!
Tonight was my first time to do chores and it went fine. They were a little confused, but didn't cause any problems. I will be taking care of them for sure through Wednesday and possibly Thursday too. If it goes well this time, Connie and Rick want me to take care of the horses when ever they go away, and possibly do some training with Garth too. He sure is a big boy! Blue is very quiet and sweet, with pretty blue eyes. Oreo is a bit of a stinker...he certainly rules the roost!

Good luck, I enjoyed babysitting my neighbors horses for about 8 yrs and it was wonderful. I felt like I was a member of their horse family very early on. I'm not nearly as good with horses as you are. I've never gotten on one and I probably never will. It's quite a privilege to be liked and trusted by them, though. Are you writing any more lately? Thanks Aunt Cathy. I'm so excited for this opportunity to get to know these horses. It's always fun to get know horses other than my own. I know the feeling...and it's wonderful! I'm not that good...I just try to understand the horses and communicate in ways they understand and it just happens!
I need to do a writing update post. I haven't been writing very much lately. Not enough time or motivation. I need to get busy, but my brain hasn't been cooperating! In addition to getting the second book ready to publish, I need to finish the third book and get started on the next series. Hope you and Uncle Jim are doing well.

Lauren,
Enjoy your time with them. Perhaps yet another career path for you! Oreo has SUCH unique markings!

I know I will enjoy interacting with them. Oreo is a war bonnet paint because of the black "bonnet" over his ears. War Bonnets were treasured by the Indians. I wouldn't mind picking up a few jobs involving horses!
