Babies and Haying

Yesterday Belle, our older Nubian doe, had twins! A boy and girl.
We will be keeping the boy until after our trip to Alaska, so they can keep Belle in milk and we will be keeping the girl and breeding her next year. We are trying to come up with an Arabic name for her.
The first two pictures are the girl and the second two are the boy.
Shiloh and Pepper are due any time. We will probably have more babies by the end of the week.

I took two of the baby bunnies out to get some pictures. They are adorable, chubby little things. The mama wasn't too happy with me, but I think she was appeased when I returned her darlings safe and sound!

Today we were putting up hay. Seth, Levi, Grandpa and Uncle Greg did the majority of the work, but I helped some, enough to get some blisters!
We put up about 300 square bales and I'm not sure how many round bales. It was one of the hottest days yet and we went through a lot of water! The dogs enjoyed riding on the wagons with us some of the time.

We did about 275 bales here today! Yes, it was HOT, in the 90's! Your land sure is flat there. We have lots of hills here and can not pull the wagon behind the baler. They get dropped on the ground, then we pick them up and put them on the trailer. Stacking is an art form here, so the load doesn't fall off on the hills.

Yes, our land is very flat. Makes for terrible sledding in the winter! The country road behind our farm has a few good hills that are fun riding!
We used to let the bales drop in the field then go back and pick them up but it is nice not too have to do that anymore.
My brother especially enjoys the stacking part!

The babies are simply adorable! I remember the days of haying in the heat - don't miss the heat part only the haying. The animals will enjoy that pretty hay this winter.
