From the Dark to the Dawn~~by Alicia A. Willis
Click image to view on Amazon (available in eBook and paperback format) This book is absolutely amazing! I am not easily impressed, but this book was incredible. Alicia is an excellent writer and she paints vivid pictures of people and places with her words. This story is a perfect combination of mystery, intrigue and Biblical teachings. Alicia does a great job of reminding us of exactly what the first Christians suffered for Christ's sake. The story of Phillip and Marcus is full of conflicting emotions, pain, suffering and finally, love, joy and peace. This is one of my favorite books. I do not recommend it for young children...there is some violence, but it is great for middle to late teens. |
The Mystery of the Missing Cufflinks~~by Alicia G. Ruggieri
Click image to view on Amazon (available in eBook and paperback format) What a great book! This is exactly the kind of book I wished I would have had available to me in my early teens. A very exciting story with twists and turns though out the plot, it is also very constructive with a strong Biblical theme throughout. The ending is strong and the story and characters felt very real and believable. Overall, a great read and appropriate for all ages. |
Never~~by J. Grace Pennington
Click image to view on Amazon (available in eBook and paperback format) This book took me totally by surprise. The cover was slightly confusing to me and I wasn't sure what to expect. Two pages into the story and I was hooked. I love western stories but unfortuanly, most of them contain unwholesome content. Never was refreshingly free of anything unwholesome and despite the seriousness and sadness in the story, it was a very good read. J. Grace Pennington made it possible to really feel what was going on with the characters...and that made the story all the more interesting and touching. This is a very serious, and sometimes downright sad book, but the message is great.. |
The Sparrow Found A House~~by Jason McIntire
Click image to view on Amazon (Available as paperback and an eBook) I read The Sparrow Found a House last summer and really liked it. The characters are very real and believable. The book really shows faith in action, something that is difficult to achieve without sounding preachy or leaving too much out, but Jason captured it well. I could really relate to Jessie and I had to smile at some of Katie's antics, but my favorite person was the Sergeant Overall, the book is just a great family read, appropriate for all ages and very well written. You will not be disappointed. |
It Took A War~~By Emily Ann Putzke
Click image to view on Amazon (Available as paperback and an eBook) I wasn't sure what to expect from this book. In my experience, a lot of war related books are filled with blood and violence. I was pleasantly surprised! The focus was on the characters and their struggles, rather than on the war. The war was real enough that you knew it was there and felt the pain and the suffering, but it did not overpower the rest of the story and the lesson that the author skillfully wove in. At the beginning of the book, I did not like Lucas at all! And there were times I wanted to reach into the book and give Joe and Coralie a good shaking! But the author did a great job of helping these two resolve their problems and the ending was spectacular! There were times the story moved a bit too quickly for me to grasp exactly what was going on, but overall, Emily did a wonderful job and I really enjoyed this book. |
A Mighty Fortress~~by Faith Blum
Click image to view on Amazon (available as an eBook and a paperback) I really enjoy westerns but it is so hard to find good stories without immorality and extreme violence so I was pleased to find this book. A Mighty Fortress was well written for the most part. The beginning was a bit hard to get through for me, but the story picked up near the middle of the book and the ending was very, very good. I am not an emotional person, but the ending really got to me. I do not recommend this book to younger readers because there is a bit of violence and fatal gunfights. I felt the author handled these situations well, she did not give too much detail, nor linger at the scene. I recommend this book for ages 15+. |
God of Her Fathers: A Novella~~by Alicia A. Willis
Click image to view on Amazon (Available as an eBook only) Alicia is an incredible writer. God of Her Fathers was a short, but sweet read. The emotion is great and the action is really good. I highly recommend this book. The only thing I wasn't thrilled about was the one scene where there is shooting and one man is killed. I know that such gunfights were a very real part of the old west and we cannot completely avoid the subject, but for this reason I do not recommend this book for a younger audience. |
The Triple Creek Ranch Series
Triple Creek Ranch: Unbroken-Buy it Here Triple Creek Ranch: Home At Last-Buy it Here Triple Creek Ranch: Rustlers-Buy it Here Triple Creek Ranch: Stephen-Buy it Here ~~By Rebekah A. Morris (available in eBook and paperback format) This is a fun series about a spoiled young rich girl and the struggles she faces as she makes the transition from living in the city with her late Grandmother to living in the wild west with her brother and his wife. A good, down to earth series, Rebekah weaves Biblical lessons into a story filled with adventures, fun and sadness. Orlena is an interesting character...In the beginning you feel like you want to shake her and many times I felt like I were Janelle or Norman, growing increasingly frustrated with her foolish, stubborn antics. Toward the end there are fun moments and it is refreshing to see the changes in Orlena's character. |
Night of the Cossack~~By Tom Blubaugh
Buy it Here (Available as a paperback and an eBook)
I have read books before on the Cossacks and the Russians. I was expecting everything about the Cossacks in this book, like it has been in every other I have read, to be negative. To my surprise, the author showed a side of the Cossacks that you almost never hear about. They weren't all the bloodthirsty men you usually see them portrayed as.
I was very intrigued from the first page and once I picked it up, found it almost impossible to stop reading.
Nathan's journey from boy to man was laid out in an orderly manner. The story moved at the perfect pace, neither to slow nor too fast and I felt I had adequate time to grasp what was unfolding.
I think this story would be especially appealing to teen boys, however, I think it would appeal to a wide variety of readers. I do not recommend this book for young readers because of mild violence.

I had the privilege of reading this book nearly a year before it was published and absolutely loved it! I couldn't wait for it to be published so I could share it with others.
Keri is an excellent writer and has effectively combined a strong Biblical message with wonderful mysteries and dark secrets.
A great book for the whole family...I highly recommend this book to you.
Keri is working on a sequel to this book and I know it will be just as amazing!

Adventures of the Northwoods Series
Books #1-5--Buy it Here Books #6-10--Buy it Here ~~By Lois Walfrid Johnson (Available as paperbacks: individuals or in two sets of five.) This series is one of my personal favorites. Very clean and uplifting, it's is chock full of adventure and mystery...a real 'edge of your seat' series. The characters are fun and there are many laughable moments. A great series for families. |
Freedom Seekers Series
Books #1-6--Buy it Here
~~By Lois Walfrid Johnson
(Available as paperbacks: individuals or in a set)
This is also one of my favorite series. There are plenty of fun moments, but these books also have a serious message.
There is some violence, nothing inappropriate, but it might not be suited to younger children. Lois does a very good job of accurately portraying the way the black people were treated.
Also great for families.
