Horses
Picture
Bannie is a 19 year old Qrt Horse gelding. He is a spoiled pet, more like a dog to me than a horse! I learned a lot from him and even though I don't ride him very much, he is still very special!
Picture
Rio is Lena's little mule baby. His father is a donkey named Luke. He is the cutest thing ever and we were so excited when he arrived in the spring of 2014. He is very loving and enjoys snuggle times with any one of his surrogate mothers! Lena has some pretty strong competition, but Rio still prefers her for one very important reason...she is the only one who can provide that creamy white stuff he enjoys so much! But he loves to receive his share of petting from the rest of us!
Picture
Smoke is a 17 year old Qrt horse mare. She has been a cowhorse all of her life and is a lot of fun! She is full of energy and very fast! In October of 2013, I had an accident while riding her which resulted in a compression fracture to my spine. As of April 2014, I am back to riding her and enjoying it very much. We still have a long way to go to get back to working together with the freedom we had before the accident, but it is coming slowly.
Picture
This is Reggie. He is a sixteen year old gelding. Reggie was rescued not too long ago from starvation and neglect. He is a very sweet, gentle horse that is very thankful to have a home. Reggie is Levi's horse and they will be doing some cow sorting come fall!
Picture
Lena is 22(?) year old Qrt Horse mare. She is Lydia's horse and very sweet. She has her stubborn moments, but she has taught Lydia a lot while keeping her safe at the same time. Unbeknownst to us, she was bred to a donkey jack before we bought her. She foaled in the spring of 2014, giving birth to a beautiful mule, little Rio. (His picture is above on the left)

Goats
Picture
This is Sabriyah. She is a Nigerian Dwarf. She is so cute and lots of fun. She lived in the house for several weeks until it was warm enough to put her outside and she kept us very entertained!
Picture
These are Libby's boys from this spring. We already sold Levi, the lighter one, but we are keeping Tommy, the darker one, for now.
Picture
This is Belle, a registered Nubian doe. She is smart and milks well.
Picture
This is Libby. She is a seven year old Nubian doe. She is pretty quiet and generally keeps to herself.
Picture
Pepper is a new addition to the herd. She is a yearling registered Nubian doe. She is very friendly and loves to be petted.
Picture
This Shiloh. She is a yearling Nubian doe, Libby's daughter. She is very shy, but is gradually get braver toward people. Next to Sabriyah, she is my favorite.

Rabbits
I have to say...I know very little about the rabbits. They are Levi and Lydia's venture. I do know they are Dutch rabbits and I'm proud of my little brother and sister for the many wins they have been getting at the rabbit shows they have been attending!

Dogs
Picture
This is very typical of Maple, our border collie female...never far from a ball of some sort! Maple is a very sweet, protective dog and she is very special to me. She accompanies me when I check on the animals and gently takes my hand in her mouth when she wants my attention.
Picture
This is usually where you will find Shep, our border collie male, watching over the goats. He is not allowed in the pen with them, but that doesn't stop him from pacing the fence line nearly 24/7! He is also a very sweet dog and enjoys getting spoiled by spending the night in the house on occasion.

Chickens
We have quite a few more chickens then are pictured here, but they are too many to picture individually and I can't tell most of them apart anyway! The main breed we have are the Welsummer's. They are a specialty breed and known for their extremely dark eggs. The Japanese Bantams are just for fun...their eggs are very small.
Hens from both breeds have successfully hatched out many batches of chicks.

This is Wooten, our Welsummer Rooster
Picture
This is Oreo. When my aunt and uncle had to move, they asked if we would take Oreo and keep her even when she stopped laying. We have had her for several years and even though she is, as nearly as we can figure, about 10 or 11 years old and should be far past laying age, she surprises us every once in a while with a large white egg. She is starting to slow down, but still hanging in there. She loves to eat bugs out of our hands and her favorite treat is tomato worms!

This is Mama Bantam, our Japanese Bantam hen.

Cats
Picture
This is Ranger. He was not supposed to be an inside cat but....yep, he ended up inside as a kitten and is still there today! We all enjoy him and he does go outside occasionally if its...not too cold, not too hot, not too wet, not too dry....do you get the picture!?
Picture
Waldo is the Siemese and Tiny is the tabby. They are brother and sister. They were in the house for a little while, but did eventually make it to the barn!
We have two more cats that I don't have any pictures of, Tippy and Lilly. They are mother and son and both are gray.

Alpaca/Sheep
Picture
This is our alpaca, Chico. We got Chico for protection for the sheep. Alpacas, like llama's, are very canine aggressive. He is very protective of the sheep and loves the babies.
Picture
Picture
Grandpa has a herd of about 40-50 Khatan hair sheep. They shed their wool and look like a deer. No having to mess with shearing and their meat tastes much better because they don't have lanolin glands.

Cows
Picture
This is Mama Cow, the mother to Beauty. We used to be dairy farmers but now we only have the two cows left. Mama is tolerant of us and sometimes curious enough to let us touch her briefly but Beauty is pretty wild!
